ESL Newsletter - Website Writer/Author
The following project is comprised of two interrelated parts.

1. The author will maintain and update an ESL “blog” with the author’s own free-form thoughts, ideas and rants within certain guidelines.
2. The author will write a monthly newsletter aimed at the general ESL/EFL Teaching professional.

Below is a detailed explanation of both parts of the project.

1. ESL Blog

Objective: Maintain and update an “ESL Blog” on an ongoing basis. The blog is intended to attract readership and interest based on the author’s distinct personality and character – engaging writing style is a must. This project will require the author to create interesting, varied and rich content.

This project will require the author to commit the following number of entries to the blog:

• 3 free form diary entries per week (12 per month)

2. ESL Teacher Newsletter

Objective: Ghost write a monthly email newsletter containing 800 - 1,500 words focusing on newsworthy and helpful tools and information geared toward the ESL / EFL teacher. Information contained in the newsletter can/will cover the following areas:

Welcome Note:

This section welcomes the reader to the latest edition, gives some reference to the success of the previous issue and any insights learned that guided the decision behind the present month’s content.

An Introduction:

• You will give the readers some sense of what the newsletter will be about, what he/she can expect and your own thoughts about the current issue. The goal here is to create excitement and entice the reader to read on.

Dream teaching location:

• Highlighted “city of the month” teaching destination.

Living on a Budget:

• Being financially savvy on a teacher’s salary
• Traveling on a teacher’s budget
• How to live large on a teacher’s budget

Ongoing Professional Development:

• On the job networking, certification programs, conferences, symposiums, conventions, job fairs, etc.

Workplace Issues:

• Art of Negotiating
• Dealing with Problem Students
• Time Management

Lesson Plan or Activity:

• Effective Lesson Plan, Classroom activity

Teaching Tips and Tricks:

• Teaching Tips and Tricks

Upcoming Industry Events:

• ESL Events or conferences of specific use to ESL / EFL Teachers

Monthly poll /surveys:

• Poll or survey based on something of interest to the teaching professional.

Q and A:

• Specific “Dear Abby” type question and answer section

A “Did you Know?” section:

• An interesting bit of trivia or tidbit of knowledge about the English language, the teaching profession, or the overall theme of that month’s newsletter that opens up the newsletter with a light, inviting tone

Recommend Resources:

• ESL Websites, literature, or news sources of interest with rating and critique.
An Author’s Bio:
• Detailed Bio of your professional and personal writer’s biography

**Other duties:

1. Sending notifications with each new entry from “your” blog.
2. Acknowledging all comments left on “your” blog.
3. Leaving comments with a link back to “your” blog, on other ESL-related blogs and forums.
4. Participation in other “in-house” blogs and forums.

IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN APPLYING FOR THIS JOB:

To bid on this project Author/Editor must meet the following criteria:

• Must have an inherit interest in Education and the Field of ESL / EFL.
• Must be able to meet strict deadlines and deliver a polished, edited product
• Minor HTML knowledge a must
• Attention to detail a must
• Must enjoy communicating with peers and be able to express a strong personality through the written word.
• Must write in an engaging manner and present ones self as an authority on the subject
• 2-3 years of ESL teaching experience required
• 1-2 years of ESL school management and or ESL staff management preferred
• Work or travel to multiple countries/continents preferred
• Extensive creative writing experience preferred

Salary: 200 USD per month due on completion of one newsletter, and 12 blog entries (3 entries a week)
