American Village camps are linguistic immersion camps for French children, ages 8 to 17 years old. These camps allow for children to become completely immersed in a foreign language within their home country by creating a positive environment where it is necessary, natural, and fun to use English. We are not a language school, but rather a linguistic immersion camp. As such, we emphasize education through cultural exchange. We seek creative, dynamic and energetic men and women from 19 to 30 years old. Applicants should be native English speakers. We prefer that our counselors have previous camp counseling experience. They should also be capable of teaching American English to non-native speakers. This said, a TEFL certification is not a requirement. Counselors are hired for up to three month periods, and our season extends from mid-March until the end of August.
*** We also have one camp for one week in February (12-21) If youre available, please note these dates on your application form ***
The ideal American Village candidate should:

have little or no knowledge of French (since the official language of the camp is English)

Applicants should be prepared to teach songs, organize various arts and crafts, participate in skits and play sports. Musicians are very welcome to apply, and in an effort to balance our teams, we strongly encourage male applicants.
