A young and dynamic group of language schools based in Ragusa and Modica, two UNESCO world-heritage cities in the SE of Sicily have a vacancy for an enthusiastic and creative mother-tongue teacher for the academic year 2004-2005.

The successful candidate will have a good TEFL qualification, CELTA or equivalent and at least 12-18 months experience in a similar environment. They will also, preferably have a degree. They should also be familiar with the Trinity and Cambridge exams.

You MUST be an EU citizen so apologies to all non-EU teachers out there but Italian bureaucracy makes it practically impossible to employ you.

You will be teaching individual one to one lessons as well as group courses at a wide variety of levels; from absolute beginners to people preparing for the Cambridge proficiency exam. The school also caters for students of all ages and we have classes of 4 year-olds as well as older children, teenagers and adults.

The basic working week will be of 18 hours teaching plus your preparation etc.. You must be willing to work up to 25 hours per week. Lessons can be in the morning, afternoon and in the evening. In fact the last classes finish at 9.40 pm and you will probably finsh at this time twice a week.

Basic pay is €700net per month for an 18-hour week and every hour on top of that is paid at €9.50net.

At first, we can offer you a 4-month contract, (until mid-February) which is renewable by mutual consent for another 4 months.

The payment does not include accomodation or meals but we will help you find accomodation and can offer temporary accomodation for when you arrive. We will also sort out your residency card and tax number etc... for you.

The group operates 2 schools; one in Modica and one in Ragusa. The two towns are 20km apart and you will teach in both so a car is an advantage but not a necessity as we will arrange transport.
