A House of Wonder - Your Chance in Andong
Dear Seekers,

I am writing to announce a vacancy for a foreign teacher at our academy in Andong. Although I say "our," I am neither teacher nor proprietor, here. Rather, I used to hold the currently available post. Now teaching at a national university in Korea, I have maintained such a relationship with these people since my departure in early 2004 that I now assist in such operations as a matter of friendship. It is with personal acquaintance and long experience that I present this situation - and my familiarity compels me to recommend it with great esteem (as well as sincerity, of course).
Kids' Future is a typical Korean academy where primary and middle school students attend extra classes in English and other subjects. Lessons are fifty minutes in length, and the foreign teacher will conduct approximately thirty lessons every week - from Monday to Friday, primarily in the afternoons and evenings. The salary is 2.0 million won (= 2,000 U.S. dollars) per month - issued punctually and in full, without exception. Benefits include a free private apartment near the academy and inexpensive medical insurance, half of which is covered by the employer. Half of the round-trip air-fare will be paid within three months of the new teacher's arrival; the remainder will be given upon completion of one year of teaching, in accordance with the contract. We will make all necessary arrangements - and cover all expenses - for the new teacher's visa, either in the teacher's own country or by a simple trip to the Korean consulate in Fukuoka, Japan.
The ideal candidate must be qualified by a bachelor's degree (in any subject), and English must be his or her mother tongue. Also necessary are a deep interest in language and a fondness for working with children. As I mentioned above, this is a great opportunity; I look forward to responses from appreciative individuals. We hope to bring the new teacher in by the end of this month (May), so please do not hesitate. Drop us a line by e-mail, or simply give me a call. Thank you.

Sincerely,

Andrew J. Keast
