All applying candidates, both Gyopos (Korean-American, Korean-Canadian) and foreigners must have graduated from a recognized university with a minimum 4-year BA or BS degree. All candidates applying must be able to provide original diploma and sealed official transcripts. Employment without such documents is illegal in Korea, and CDI conducts thorough background checks on all successful resumes.

At this time (effective from July 2005), CDI schools are offering a revised two options for the successful candidate:

Option 1:
- Initial salary of 2.2 million won per month for 120 teaching hours. Higher salary can be obtained based on experience, education and training evaluation.
- Airfare
- 50/50 medical insurance and pension
- one month severance pay at end of 1-year contract
- E-2 visa sponsorship and airfare for visa run if needed
- Housing
- 7 days vacation per year
- The option one works out to about average of 1.7~1.85 million won per month after taxes, but has all the benefits listed.

Option 2:
- Guaranteed 2.4 million won for 96 teaching hours per month (3.0 mil. for 120 hours) Based on experience, education and training evaluation, pay can range up to 3.8 million won per month.
- Option 2 does not offer the above benefits in option 1, but higher pay for fewer hours. Due to lower tax (3.3%) in the absence of benefits, the net pay would be about 2.32 million won per month, and each hour over 96 would be paid overtime of 25,000 won per hour.

Class hours are in blocks between 4:00 to 10:00PM, and CDI boasts the most comprehensive and well-researched program curricula in Seoul with fully developed tests, quizzes, texts and teacher's guides. Quite simply, teachers are expected to teach to the best of their ability using the best materials already provided, and not to spend precious hours preparing endlessly from scratch. Each class is three hours long.

CDI also offers all successful candidates free comprehensive job training at the CDI training center in Seoul to become an effective instructor at CDI prior to beginning employment at CDI schools.
