Located in Soeul, S. Korea, this private school caters for Korean students from preschool to elementary and ESL classes. The school follows the British Columbia Elementary School Curriculum, using British Columbia Ministry approved textbooks and resources and with Canadian teachers certified by the Canadian Ministry of Education. The school welcomes Canadian teachers who have a teaching certificate in kindergarten and elementary school setting.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
1) Position: Full time teaching for Pre/Kin to G6
2) Working hours: 10 to 6 from Monday to Friday
3) Salary: 2.4 million won or more (US$2300 or more) depending on teaching experience
4) Severance Pay: Equivalent to 1 month salary upon the completion of one year contract
5) Others: Full furnished single housing, 50/50 medical insurance, 21 days vacation through a year
6) Airfare: Return tickets provided.
SALARY AND WAGE
a. The Employer agrees to pay the Employee a monthly salary of CAD$2,500.00, paid in Korean currency.
b. Salary is paid on the fifth (5th) day of the following month. If the 5th on a Saturday, the employee will be paid on the 4th, and if it is falls on a Sunday, the employee will be paid on the 6th.
c. Teaching hours that exceed the contracted hours are remunerated at 25,000 Won per ESL class (80 minutes).
d. The Severance pay (Bonus) is negotiable upon completion of this contract. (Usually one month of pay)
e. Employee teaches after a teaching session has begun or finishes before the last teaching session has ended, their salary for those months will be calculated using the following formulae; the actual teaching days over the monthly teaching days times the monthly salary.
f. The employee should provide Korea bank account number to the employer. The employee will be paid by direct deposit.
g. Advancing is allowed only for the first two months after the Employee’s arrival.
TRANSPORTATION
a. The one year contract comes with a round trip airfare.
b. The Employer is to provide the Employee with an economy class ticket from the nearest international airport to Korea. Upon completion of this one-year contract, the Employee will be provided with a return ticket to the point of original departure, international airport to employee's nearest home.
c. In case of the Employee leaving the school before the end of the contract, the school will not pay for a return ticket.
d. If the Employee leaves the school before completing of this contract, the cost of the airfare to Korea must be reimbursed to the school. The price of the ticket paid by the school will be deducted from the Employees last month's payment.
e. If the Employee resigns for a second year and works continuously, the employer will be provided a return ticket to the point of original departure at the end of the second year.
MEDICAL INSURANCE
a. The Employee will be covered with medical insurance under the Korean Medical Insurance Union, a private health organization. It covers health, death and accidental. If you required, the employer can provide the copy of the medical policy.
b. Insurance will be provided 50% to be paid by the employer and 50% by the employee. (The employee's portion of the premium is about 1.5% of gross salary)
VACATION
a. The Employee will be given Christmas vacation, summer vacation, and all Korean holidays (Election days excluded). Total vacation days, excluding sick days, will be around 25 days a year.
b. Vacation days have to be scheduled by Employer.
