Gumi, South Korea. English Language Institute Looking for a Couple.2 teachers are required, in March, for an English Language Institute in Gumi. These positions involve teaching mainly kindergarten and elementary school students with some middle school classes. Gumi is a smaller city with a population of just under 400,000 in Kyoung Sang Buk Do. Gumi is only 30-45 minutes by bus away from Daegu. Salary
2.1 - 2.2 million won per month with a 100,000 won raise after 6 months of employment.
Severance
Upon completion of the full one-year contract period, the Employee will be provided an additional payment of one full month’s salary.
Period of Employment
Contract duration is for one-year, and is renewable upon mutual consent of the Employer and the Employee.
Working Hours
Classes will be held from Monday to Friday, approximately 6 hours per day, 30 hours per week with the possibility of some overtime. No Saturdays or Sundays.
Overtime
The overtime rate is 20,000 won per hour. Saturday morning overtime is available at a rate of 50,000 won per 50 minute class.
Holidays
There are 13 to 15 Korean public holidays per year. The Employee is not required to work on these days and no deductions will be made from their monthly salary.
Paid Vacation Time: The Employee is permitted 10 days paid vacation in a year. 5 days for the Summer vacation period (August), 5 days for the Winter vacation period (February).
Airfare
The Employer will reimburse or supply (pay for) to the Employee an economy class, one-way ticket from their country of origin to the point of hire in Korea. At the completion of the contract, the Employer will supply (pay for) to the Employee an economy class, one-way ticket to their country of origin.
Housing
The Employer agrees to select, provide and pay for adequate and clean furnished accommodations, living conditions and basic amenities. The Employee will be responsible for the cost of monthly expenses (utilities) for the accommodation provided by the Employer.
Medical Insurance
The Employer agrees to provide medical insurance for the Employee and further agrees to cover 50% of the cost. The Employee is responsible for the remaining 50% (as required by Korean Law).
Sick Days
The Employee is allowed five (5) paid sick days per year.
Deductions
Each month, three point three percent (3.3%) will be deducted from the Employee’s monthly salary for income tax in accordance with Korean law. Also, each month, four point five percent (4.5%) will be deducted from the Employee’s monthly salary for the Korean National Pension Program (as required by Korean Law) and four point five percent (4.5%) will paid into it by the teacher’s Employer as well which will be refund (9.0%) by the Korean Gov’t once the teacher has left Korea. 50% of the annual cost of medical insurance will be deducted equally from the Employee's salary over the first three months of employment. No other deductions of any type whatsoever shall be deducted from the Employee's salary without prior consent from the Employee. The only exception is in the case of an employee missing a scheduled class excluding sick days. In that case 20,000won will be subtracted per class missed.

3. University transcripts, in a sealed official university envelope that is both stamped (official University stamp) and signed by an authorized University representative across the seal of the envelope.
4. Copy of Identification page of passport.
5. 6 passport sized, current photographs of yourself.
