Job Description:
I am a teacher working at this school and my contract is up in a month or so. I have been in Korea for almost three years and this is quite easily the best school I have worked with. The school pays on time, holidays are 1 week in length (M-F), the contract says 30 hours per week but you will teach approx 26. Kindergarten classes are 35 minutes long and afternoon classes 40 or 45 (no boring 2-3 hour classes as some other hagwons have. Another great thing about the school is they record all of your paper work as work time (most schools don't), therefore they try to keep paperwork at a minimum. You are not expected to stay with students during lunch/break time. There is a gym right next door, so if the break is long enough you can head across.

Your typical day looks like this:

9.30 Arrive at school
9.40 Meeting for 5-10 mins, receive Kindergarten material for the day.
10.00 Greeting time with your homeroom
10.10 Immersion
10.45 Theme
11.20 Milk time for students
11.30 Break
12.15 Break
12.40 Lunch time
1.40 Science class
2.15 Break
2.40 Break/ checking diaries (recorded as work time)
3.30 1st elementary class
4.10 Break
4.15 2nd elementary class
4.55 Break
5.00 3rd elementary class
5.40 Break
5.45 4th elementary class
6.25 Finished/ go home (1 day a week you do phone teaching for 10-15 mins at this time, but is recorded as working time)

This is my schedule for a Tuesday and Thursday and M,W,F is only slightly different...

Many recruiters and schools will lie to you just to get you in the door, but having been at the coalface I appreciate what teachers like and don't like.

Also, the boss is great, stays out of the way, will never get in your face and lets you teach in your own way. The main person you deal with is the supervisor and her English is pretty much spotless. She also teaches, so understands the trials and tribulations of teaching.

There are 3 other foreign teachers, all Canadian, and 6 korean teachers. (all fluent)

Any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.
