Native English speaker wanted for school outside Luoyang, Henan, China
Hi. My name is Stephen and I am an American teaching English here in China. I am posting this as a favor to my school.

We are looking for some more foreign teachers (one or two more) for the next school year, beginning Sept. 1, 2004. I am staying on for a second year, so that should say enough about how well I am treated here. Below is some short-but-specific information about the positions. If you want to know more about living and working here, I put together a website (still in progress) that describes it from my perspective.

www.mountainstothesea.com/yigao/
**This website might also be of use to others who plan to come to China for the first time**

Type of school: Senior Middle School (like a high school in the USA).
Location: Xin'an Xian Di Yi Gao, about 20km outside Luoyang, in the Henan province. (Middle China, but considered "North")
Classes per week: Twenty 45-minute classes, for a total of 15 teaching hours, plus a one-hour English corner per week.
Class size: Large (60 ), but well-behaved for teenagers.
Salary: 3000 RMB per month (low cost of living here)
Accomodations: Private, one-bedroom apartment on campus.
Your expenses: DSL, cooking gas.
Airfare reimbursement: One-way economy-class ticket for teaching half a year, round trip for a whole year, paid upon completion of the contract.

China as a rule can be a difficult place to live, but I can say that my first year in China here at Yi Gao was overall a happy one. I had more time off work than almost everyone I know who teaches in this area. My leaders here go out of their way to make me comfortable. This is a great place to "get your feet wet" to teaching in China. It is small and safe with good food, a beautiful campus, and lots of historical sites close-by (Luoyang was the capital of about a dozen Chinese dynasties).

Please contact me off-list if you are interested. Do not hit "reply"
but copy my email address to your "To" line:

Have a nice day.
