15 Foreign language teachers are wanted in Zhejiang Forestry University. They will be distributed to teach English related courses in 4 colleges or departments (International education college, school of economics and management, department of foreign languages, department of tourism). Any applications from foreign teachers are welcomed.
1. Materials to be submitted
1. A detailed resume with your phone number, fax number, and email address.
2. A copy of recommendation letter from your previous employer or reference letter from a university.
3. A photocopy of medical examination report within three months, which is needed to apply for an expert certificate (or you have to get it in China).
4. A photocopy of passport (It is more efficient if it is scanned into a computer and emailed to us).
2. Requirements
1. Native English Speakers, born and growing up in an English speaking country such as America, Britain, Canada, Australia, New Zealand;
3. Holding at least a Bachelor's degree, better with an MA degree. It is preferable to have a degree in English language or literature or history.
2. Physically healthy, easy- going, open minded, and cooperative.
3. Job description
Teaching 16 periods (about 13.5 hours) per week and some administrative work, extra hours of teaching will be paid with extra money.
Teaching English related courses such as English conversation, English writing, English culture.
4. The university offers
1.Monthly after-tax salary: RMB 3,300-4500 for teachers with a Bachelor’s degree, RMB4000- 5500 for teachers with a master's degree (The normal living expenses per person in this region is about RMB 500-800 per month.) and enough teaching experiences.
2.Travel allowance: RMB 2200 for a year's contract.
3.International traveling allowance: a round-trip air ticket for a contract year will be offered (for half a year contract, the allowance will be a half). But the maximum allowance is RMB 7000 .
4. Accommodation: You will be offered free a furnished apartment about 45 square meters, with all the necessary living facilities including water heater, air conditioner, essential furniture, kitchen facilities, telephone, etc. The University will pay RMB 100 per month for water and electricity, which will be paid to the university enterprise directly.
5. Communication: a DDD telephone is installed in each apartment, by which you can access the INTERNET with your own computer. Another RMB 100 will be paid for your telephone bill per month. Certainly, you can access the INTERNET at net bars inside or outside the campus.
6. Medicine: foreign teachers are suggested to buy international medical insurance in their own countries, and they can get no more than RMB 30.00 per month from the university based on the actual pay.
7. Insurance: ZFU will offer an accident insurance (the risk is about RMB 100,000 ).
5. Furthermore benefits to foreign teachers
1. We will send you a Letter of Invitation for "Z" class foreign expert visa and working permit application.
2. The University will apply for the residence permit, expert certificate for foreign teachers, and help them to get health checked in Hangzhou.
3. Foreign teachers will be picked up at Shanghai International Airport from Aug. 26-29, after that period, they will be picked up in Hangzhou Airpot.
4. Foreign teachers can get 2 months vacation with salary for one year contract.
5. Foreign teachers can travel in or out of China in vacation. ZFU will help them to apply for a multi-entry visa in Hangzhou city.

Zhejiang Forestry University, founded in 1958 directly under Zhejiang provincial government, is located in Lin'an city—a national excellent tourism city in the west suburb of Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province in Southeast China. It has convenient transportations and a good environment for teaching and research. The university has an area of 150 hectares with the building floorage of 220,000 square meters. Owing to its beautiful scenery, it won the titles of “highly civilized campus” and “ picturesque campus”.
ZFU provides a wide range of education in agriculture, industry, science, literature, management, law, economics and medicine, totally 27 undergraduate majors, in which three are provincial key majors. It consists of 14 schools and departments. They are school of life sciences, school of engineering, school of landscape architecture and art, school of economics and management, school of humanities, department of information science and technology, department of foreign languages, department of tourism, division of basic courses, division of physical education and military training, international education college, Tianmu college, continuing education college, forestry management college.
ZFU has 22 research units including Landscape Planning Institute, Forestry Science Institute, Landscape Tourism Institute, and Mountain Area Development Institute etc. In the university there are two provincial key disciplines, three provincial greatly supported disciplines, 11 university key disciplines, and one fine timber-breeding base of state forestry bureau.
Presently 290 research projects have been carried out, and five projects have got patented among the 74 appraised projects. 32 projects have won achievements awards from ministries and the provincial government. 1535 academic articles have been published domestically or abroad. More than 120 monographs of the faculty have been published. In addition, conspicuous economical profits and social effects have been achieved based on those research findings. “The Journal of Zhejiang Forestry University” sponsored by the university has successively won the award of excellent scientific journal four times at national or provincial level. And it is the only one of its kind in Zhejing province selected as one of the 100 key journals.
ZFU currently has a teaching and administrative staff of more than 700 members, of whom two are members of the Chinese academy of engineering, one outstanding professor specially employed by the provincial government, and more than 150 are professors or associate professors. Three professors are listed in the first group of provincial “151” talents, and 15 the second group., besides, 6 members are principals at the provincial level. The president of the university is professor ZHANG Qisheng, member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering.
ZFU has actively been seeking international cooperation and exchange, and has successively established inter-university ties with more than 10 institutions of higher learning in such countries and regions as the US, Australia, Japan, Canada, Russia, and Taiwan. Joint venture in education and joint scientific research are top priorities of our international programs, by which some teachers and researchers are sent to foreign universities to visit, study, or conduct academic exchange; on the other hand, foreign expert and researchers are invited to give lectures in our university and do collaborate researches with our staff in China each year. Presently, there are more than 10 foreign teachers working in the university.
ZFU has an enrollment of more than 8000 students. With a fine students training aim of “all-round knowledge, solid foundation, strong ability, and high quality”, we place special emphasis on students’ comprehensive qualities and creative ideas in the education, and good teaching qualities have been well achieved. Our graduates are welcome in all trades for their good practical ability, excellent comprehensive quality, and adaptability in society. In 2002, the employment rate of our graduates is among the top three in Zhejiang province, reaching 93.1%.
ZFU will be a multi-disciplinary university with farming and forestry as its major orientation, in combination with environmental subjects, economics, information science, management and humanities according to its 10-year-plan, and the enrolled students will reach 20,000 in the future.

A Brief Introduction to East Lake Campus
The new campus of Zhejiang Forestry University (East Lake Campus) is 1.2 km north of old campus. It is located up the north circular highway, and on the south slope of Southern Hill. With an area of 124.4 ha, it covers mainly flat ground and hill slope, forming a well-arranged relief.
The new campus is designed in accordance with planned 15,000 students; the floorage of all buildings is 450,000 square meters, which will be constructed in several stages. The first group of students enrolled in 2002 have settled in this campus already. The buildings of first stage will be completed by 2005 with a floorage of 300,000 square meters, which will meet the needs of 10,000 students.
The East Lake Campus is designed on the basis of a high starting point, constructed by high standards, arranged in an environment of high taste, managed on a high level, providing service of high efficiency and offering education of high quality. The general designing idea is: upholding the nature, improving the environment, suiting activities to local conditions, creating distinctive features for campus, taking human beings as principle elements, and harmonizing human beings with the nature. The environment of new campus is made according to the standards of first class in our country. The new campus will be a botanical garden with most plant species in Zhejiang province, and a green campus of ecological balance, tourist attraction and science popularization.
