Strategically located in beautiful Chiang Rai, Thailand, Mae Fah Luang (MFLU) was established under the Royal Charter in 1998 with generous financial assistance from the Royal Thai Government. Utilizing a “University in the Park” concept, MFLU offers an ideal environment and culture conducive to living and working. While being operational for only six years, MFLU has become Thailand’s fastest growing post-secondary institution, and is already well known for the high quality of its teaching, research and service to the people of the north and to the country in general.
MFLU is seeking applicants for English instructors. The successful candidate will have (1) earned at least a B.A. in English or related field; (2) demonstrated excellence in teaching; and (3) potential to engage in scholarly activities, professionally-based service, and student advising. Desired candidates will have demonstrated capabilities in the teaching of communication skills, reading, writing, listening and speaking in an academic setting. Candidates with second language teacher training endorsements will be preferred.
Responsibilities include teaching 18 hours per week and committee work for typical teaching load. MFLU offers a wide range of undergraduate, graduate and post-graduate degree programs with Thai arts and culture carefully integrated into curriculums. In addition to dynamic course offerings, instructors are supplied with cutting-edge technological and educational resources. Among these is the Self Access Language Laboratory (SALL) that is available to University students and instructors alike.
The salary scale ranges from 20,000 to 30,000 baht/month depending on qualifications and interview. Contracts are 12 months long with a 6 month initial probationary period. Extra pay for summer sessions is available on a turn-taking basis.
