I have been asked to assist in finding foreign teachers to teach here in historic Luoyang. Please email me for more details. There are several openings:

1. There is an immediate opening at a primary school for a native English speaker in Luoyang, Henan. Female preferred. There are already two female foreign teachers here: one from Poland and one from Egypt. Great girls with great personalities! We would like a teacher from America, England, Australia, Canada, or New Zealand to join them. Great salary and a private apartment in a great location.

2. One opening for a native speaker - an active teacher with a great personality - to teach young children in very small classes, 20 or fewer students per class. Student's ages are four to 12. A great job in a great location with an incredible staff. Teaching materials and curriculum supplied, so there is no beating your brains out trying to think of what to teach! The curriculum is proven, active (not boring), and fun to teach. Assistant teachers will be in each class to help you. You will be hard-pressed to find a better position anywhere. Write me for details and an interview. This opening can be filled now, but organizing you to come in as late as early January is possible. If you want to work for a year, you can work through the summer and continue to earn your full salary.

3. Several openings at a university in Luoyang, near McDonalds! Yes, I know. We all try to avoid McDonalds when we are back home, but here, we LOVE it. Hamburgers! Anyway, 12-16 hours teaching conversational English to college students. Salary is scalable - the more you teach, the more you make. Some teachers make 6500 RMB (in a city where 3500 is average for a foreign teacher).

4. One or more openings at a Foreign Language School in Luoyang. This is a Middle School with VERY sharp students! None of this "hang-your-head too-shy-to-speak" stuff at this school. The students will keep you on your toes. Two foreign teachers there now, both Americans, and they are very happy. You can contact them and ask them so. Good salary at a great campus. Very nice athletic field (with a super-smooth middle - bring your roller blades and a hockey stick).

5. If you feel more adventurous, there is an opening in the countryside outside of Luoyang. This is where I teach. We are 26km west of Luoyang. No western food out here unless you cook it (which I do). If you are looking to make a difference, this is where you want to come. It is beautiful and quiet out here, which is why I came here. And it is a great school to work for, which is why I stayed on for another year. Yes, two years at the same school. I have written a LOT about the school on a website www.mountainstothesea.com/yigao. Even if you choose another school, there is a lot of good information about working in Luoyang and the outlying areas. In fact, there is some useful information about working in China as a whole. Check it out. The salary is lower here: 3000 RMB per month, but you get a LOT of time off to travel.

Location: Most of these schools are near the center of everything in town, Luoyang, Henan province.

Luoyang is a nice city with a long history. We have a McDonalds and a KFC, but no Pizza Hut (waaaaaah).

Hours: 16-24, depending on which job you are interested in.

Salary: Unless otherwise stated, 4500 plus round-trip airfare for a one-year contract, one-way ticket for one semester.

Accommodations: private apartment in most cases. Computer with Internet connection provided.

Z-visa required. These are legal schools with the rights to have foreign teachers.
