Here in beautiful, subtropical Jinghong City (just inside the Chinese border from Burma and Laos), the Xishuangbanna Vocational and Technical Institute needs an English teacher. The people and environment are rich in diversity, but the school is poor in money.

HERE'S WHAT YOU GET:

1600 yuan per month salary (about $190 USD)

A furnished house (including a computer and a phone), 2 bedrooms, living room, kitchen, bathroom with Chinese toilet and hot shower, bedding, tableware, stove, cooking utensils, and basic furnishings

Three paid 3-day holidays and one paid 1-day holiday and a paid 7-week summer vacation between semesters

HERE'S WHAT YOU DO:

Teach Conversational English and Listening Comprehension to university students in 14 classes per week (a class is 45 minutes long), Monday through Friday. Text books are provided. Classes have 38 to 48 students.

No overtime teaching unless you agree to do so, which is paid at 25 yuan per 45-minute class.

Dates of Employment: March 1, 2005 through January 31, 2006 (11 month contract, salary paid on the last day of each month)

Qualifications:

Native English speaker from Australia, Canada, Great Britain, United States of America, or New Zealand
