Our school is private language school that caters for
adults who want to learn English. We have set courses
beginning with Beginner level and going all the way
through to Business level. Our students are mainly
from the working world, particularly trade companies.
As a private school it is quite expensive for the
students to come here so we find that they are highly
motivated and really hard working as the learning of
English is a spring board for their future careers.

The students main study is computer based with a
comprehensive software programme called Tell Me More.
Here they learn and practice all aspects of English
with the voice recognition programme. Once they have
completed a private class on the computer they book a
private class (PC) with a foreign teacher - this is
where we test and their vocab and grammar from the
computer lesson and discuss the topics that the
computer throws up. There is a maximum of 4 students
in this class.

There is also a salon class (S) and this is a
discussion based class with a maximum of 8 students -
the aim is to get the students talking and debating an
issue through following the teaching material. The
topics range from introductions at beginner level to
China's entry into the WTO at a more advance level.

There are many other classes as well, such as Movie
Appreciation - here we watch a DVD with the students
and take them through genres, actors and discuss the
movie. Also there is English Corner and a business
writing class. All the teachers enjoying doing this as
they have a free range. The teaching material is
provided for the PC and S classes.

The salary is 8500rmb per month (including a 1500rmb
living allowance) for a 40 hrs week. It consists of 5
8hrs days with no more than 5 1hr classes (all classes
are 1hr). The other hours are spent in the office
preparing lessons and talking with students who may
drop in with a question. The office has 4 computers
all with internet access. There is unlimited
photocopying and a lot of teaching aids to help.

The aim at this school is teaching in a relaxed, fun
environment. We create a friendly environment in which
the students enjoy because it is not like a university
with large classes. You really get to know the
students well and there is a lot of job satisfaction
when through your help a student gets a promotion or
goes to work/study abroad.
