Brief Introduction to Zhanjiang Normal University

Welcome to teach in Zhanjiang city, a beautiful coast city South Guangdong,China.

Zhanjiang Normal University, run by Guangdong Province, is a four-year undergraduate and multidisciplinary University. Its predecessor can be traced back to the Leiyang Academy which was found in 1636. Its teaching education process began from Leizhou Middle school in 1904, went though Leizhou Middle school, Leizhou Normal Academy. In the year 1991,approved by the State Education Commission, the school is promoted as Zhanjiang Normal University. Up to now, the school has trained tens thousands of different kinds of outstanding competent personnels for the society, and it is now striding forward a new stage of progressing in leap and bounds.

There are 12 schools with 34 four-year undergraduate specialties, 16 three-year specialties, more than 1000 employees, more than 30,000 students included 17,500 full-time students and 13,000 continue educating students. Zhanjiang Normal University has developed cooperative relationship with universities and cultural organizations in America, United Kingdom, New Zealand, Thailand, ect. And the college began to accept foreign students from 1998. Zhanjiang Normal University has now become a comprehensive normal University with "teaching education as its major, liberal arts and science as its basic and harmoniously developing with engineering course."

At present, Zhanjiang Normal University is implementing its idea of running the school with "development as its foundation, academics as its basic, quality as its life and character as its brand" .The motto of the college is "noble morality, profound elegance, great ambition and honest bravery." The University is following the scientific educational development view and working hard for advancing educational innovation. The goal of the college is to build itself into a new developing comprehensive normal university which with greater scale merit, obvious advantage characteristic and greater influence in China and the Southeast around the year 2010.

SUBSIDIARY CONTRACT of ZhanJiang Normal University

Party A (ZhanJiang Normal University) wishes to engage the service of Party B as a foreign English teacher. The period of service will be from the 1th of September 2004 to the 15th of July 2005.

Ⅰ、Duty of Party B

1 Taking teaching position in _ British& American Literature, English writing, oral English., working five days per week, giving _16 _classes a week (40 minutes for one period of class).

2、Making good preparations for classes, checking exercises, giving instructions, supervising examinations, grading examination papers and working out students' marks.

3、Reporting feed-back information from teaching to the dean according to the requirements of the departments; carrying out the work of teaching and scientific research, and helping guide the language corner and after-class activities.

Ⅱ、Responsibilities of Party B

1、Carrying out the teaching program in line with the requirements of the college, using text-books agreed upon by both sides. Listening to the suggestions and instructions from the appointing side. Improving teaching methods and achieving good teaching results.

2、Assuring that the teaching program is not interrupted or suspended except for illness or other special reasons. No private travel or vacation can be arranged in this period. Informing the teaching department office one-day ahead of time in case of cancelling classes because of illness or other special reasons. Without the approval of the dean or the teaching department office, no classes can be cancelled or changed.

On working days, if one has something unexpected and wants to leave our college for one day or more, one shall ask for leave in written form to the department director concerned. One can leave our college only after getting approval.

On holidays, when one wants to leave our college for one day or more, one shall report to the FOREIGN AFFAIRS OFFICE before leaving.

3、Party B is requested to understand and comply with the college's regulations and rules concerned. The person hired should take himself (herself) as a member of the teaching department staff and accept temporary and necessary teaching assignments of the appointing side. And the appointing side will pay for the extra work. The extra payment is the same as Chinese teachers.

4、Take good care of the college property. Return all of them to the college before you leave the college. If something is lost or damaged deliberately, you shall reasonably pay for it.

Ⅲ、Extra Remuneration During the Period of the Contract

1、Accommodation

Party B is provided with a well-furnished apartment (a bedroom, a sitting-room, a bath-room, a kitchen) together with kitchen utensils, a gas stove, bed-clothes, furniture, a TV set, a refrigerator, a washing machine, a telephone, an air-conditioner, a heater, a microwave stove, a hot & warm water dispenser etc. The lodging house is free of charge.

2. Monthly salary for Party B is 4500-5500 Yuan RMB.

3. Consumption of Water, Electricity and Others.

Water consumption is free of charge（excluding mineral water）.

Party B is subsidized RMB 380 yuan for gas a year (RMB 190 yuan allotted in half a year); RMB 65 yuan for telephone a month and RMB 160 yuan for electricity a month (200 KWH a month). The charge for actual consumption of gas, electricity, telephone is deducted from the salary.

4、Medical Care

Party B enjoys the same preferential treatment as Chinese teachers for treatment of common diseases in the college clinic. Party B has to pay for all the medical care outside the college.

5、Transportation

During the whole academic year, Party A will arrange one-day picnic or sightseeing for Party B twice to the scenic spots in Zhanjiang area. Party A will have some necessary companions to go. The college will provide the fee needed.

Party A will reimburse Party B with RMB 6000 Yuan for international communication subsidy in one month time after Party B’s arrival if Party B sign one school year contract with Party A. An additional RMB 2200 Yuan for vacation traveling subsidy shall be provided to Party B if Party B keeps on working in Zhanjiang Normal College for 1 school year,.

6、Holidays

Besides Chinese traditional holidays, Party B can enjoy his (her) own important holidays such as Christmas and National Day (up to three days) as well as one month winter holiday with full salary.
