Yijian English School is looking for English teachers. We are looking for dedicated, outgoing and responsible teachers, who are able to sign and complete at least a 1 year contract. Being a team player and good with children is essential.

Information

Salary is RMB 4,000-6,000 per month (depending on qualifications and experience)
24 hours work per week
Overtime rate of RMB 50-75 per hour (as above). Note: plenty of overtime available if so desired.
Airfare bonus is US $1,000 or RMB 8,000 upon completion of 1-year contract
Free fully furnished apartment, with all utilities paid, except telephone
Visa facilitation (including Foreign Resident Permit, Foreign Expert Certificate and a Z-type work visa) Note: not many schools have this facility but still advertise that they can provide this.
All negotiations can be done with foreign teachers employed at the school for your protection. You are not dealing with agents or fly-by-night advertisers.
We provide you with a bilingual Chinese teacher who helps with lessons and all classroom activities and needs. These assistants can also assist you in your day-to-day needs such as shopping, sightseeing etc. Students ages range from 5 years to adult, the average age being about 10 years.

The cost of living in Harbin is approximately RMB 1,000 per month (US $120), while in Beijing or Guangzhou it can be as high as RMB 3,000-4,000 a month. Hence, our teachers have always been able to save more money than those who go to other parts of China.

Unlike larger cities like Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou (Canton) that have become fully businesslike, Harbin still has quite a few quiet, beautiful places of interest. Harbin also has assimilated several features of the Russian culture and thus provides a unique opportunity to sample both cultures and lifestyles.

Harbin also has 4 distinct seasons: it turns green in summer and hosts the worldwide-known ice carvings festival in winter.

Yijian English School has an established,proven over time' curriculum. While teacher's creativity is always appreciated, we also have clear guidelines, which might help you to manage your classroom. We also understand that Chinese learners of English differ from native speakers and therefore we provide every teacher with an experienced, bilingual teacher assistant.

We understand your needs not only as a teacher, but also as an individual. Therefore, you will always feel a part of the team. However, we are far from infringing on your personal time and privacy. Our teachers are not required to spend their personal free time at school and are free to prepare for the classes at the time of their choice. We also understand your need to understand Chinese culture better and therefore do not lock you up in a "foreign residents" compound but rather provide you with an apartment downtown, close to all shopping malls, restaurants, movie theatres and gyms. Your apartment would also be within a walking distance from the school and this takes care of the transportation problem.
