Ameson Institute for Foreign Languages, Nanjing, China

Required from December 2005, native English speaking teachers to work at our centre in Nanjing or in Middle Schools linked to our projects. The Institute offers a wide range of English teaching experience:
• teacher training courses
• preparation for study at universities abroad
• deploying staff in local Middle Schools
• Courses for business clients
• Courses for learners of all ages

Applicants should be graduates who have one of the following:
• A qualification as a teacher (extra recognition for those with English as their Major/degree.
• A recognized qualification to teach English as a Second Language
• Sound teaching experience (salary scaled accordingly).

Our benefits package includes:

• A salary scale designed to reward qualifications and experience – ranging from 5,000 to 9,500RMB per month
• Provision of a computer, Internet connection and personal workstation for lesson preparation within the school.
• Provision of appropriate rent-free accommodation (in Middle Schools) or, should you wish, 1000RMB per month towards the cost of a private rental agreement (in Nanjing).
• Medical cover – 70% of the incurred medical costs (not covered by private medical insurance) for the first 1000RMB for staff on one year contracts ( pro-rata 70% of first 500 RMB for half time staff, etc.).
• Travel costs, on production of receipts, if recruited from overseas up to $700US (economy round trip) for staff on a one-year contract (pro rata $400US for 6 month contracts, etc.). If recruited from within China, then the costs of domestic rail travel are reimbursed up to 2000RMB for a one-year contract (pro rata 1000RMB for half time staff, etc.). Reimbursed at the end of the period of the contract.
• To be met on arrival and conducted to the place of residence and given the ‘welcome pack’. (5 days notice required of arrival dates & times).
• The provision of appropriate induction and training in support of Ameson policies and courses.
• Ameson (or the Middle Schools) organises and pays for Work Permits
• Small Class size to a maximum of 35 per class in line with Ameson policies normally.
Hours
• To teach up to 260 hours per three months with a norm of 20 hours per week and a maximum of 25 hours per week.
• Overtime beyond the above is paid at 100RMB per hour.

We have six positions available for applicants
One is in Nanjing; available at the end of December; the candidate should be familiar with English and mathematics or/and physics; one-year contract;
Four are in Nanjing, which is for the high school English teacher training; available in the middle of January 2006; two of the candidates will be offered one-year contract afterwards based on the teaching quality while the other two will just for the teacher training programs.; one who is familiar with mathematics, physics and English teaching or at least one of them will be preferred.
One is in Shaoxing, Zhejiang Province; available in February 2006; teaching high school students.
