Aga Khan Education Services (AKES) currently operates more than 300 schools and advanced educational programmes that provide quality pre-school, primary, secondary, and higher secondary education services to students in Pakistan, India, Bangladesh, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, and Tajikistan.

The Aga Khan Education Services, Bangladesh is seeking a Coordinator of English as a Second Language for it’s school in Dhaka. This appointment is part of a school improvement programme aimed at raising overall the English language skills of students and staff. The language of instruction at the school is English and the existing remedial language programme has addressed some of the individual needs of teachers, this new programme seeks to extend this coverage in a consistent and sustainable manner. The Coordinator will be responsible for :

• Providing ESL instruction to teaching staff and support staff;
• Designing and implementing a remedial English programme for students with weak English skills;
• Designing, implementing and delivering a remedial English program to students in the junior school;
• Training English speaking teachers to effectively deliver an ESL program after the completion of the contract;
• Designing the ESL curriculum.

The ideal candidate will:

• Hold TEFL/ESL certification;
• Have 5-7 years prior teacher/instructor/teacher trainer experience;
• Have had prior experience of English language teaching in a developing country or with immigrant populations;
• Be knowledgeable of a wide range of instruction tools, manuals and English language teaching support materials;
• Be competent in interactive ESL software programs,
• As English speaking teachers at the school will be included in the design and implementation of the program for students a wide knowledge of curriculum would be desirable.
