ONE FLEXIBLE, HARDWORKING, RESOURCEFUL AND TACTFUL FEMALE CANADIAN OR AMERICAN TEACHER WANTED.- Full-time position or Part-time Position in a friendly working environment of a language center located in sunny Piura, Pacific northern coast of Peru (close to Ecuador). Minimum commitment of 7 months starting January 2, 2004. Basic knowledge of Spanish would be ideal. Experience working with children,teenagers and young adults is a MUST.

We can only offer S/1,450.00 Nuevos Soles per month if you live on your own.If you decide to live at mundoidiomas teachers’ flat, we offer a private room plus breakfast and lunch (Monday to Friday Only). The monthly pay for a full-time position will then be S/1,200 Nuevos Soles. We do not pay weekly. Payday is on the 8th of each month.

Please, consider that a typical Peruvian teacher’s monthly wage is S/750.00 N.S. and a typical Peruvian wage for any other worker is S/1,200.00 N.S. a month).

Karen Bensler, our last Canadian teacher left Peru with a lifetime experience. She made lots of friends in Piura (not a tourist city) and learnt to speak Spanish in 9 months. It was a sad farewell. This position is definitely not for those willing to make money as you may make in Asia or Europe but it is more than a cultural experience.
Peru is a developing country but home of very many warm and friendly people.
