The Center for Immigrant Education and Training at LaGuardia Community College is currently seeking ESL Instructors for the Fall session evening classes.
Classes meet Monday – Thursday from mid-September to mid- December. B.A. in TESOL or related field preferred. Applicants with experience working with adult learners are encouraged to apply. Family Literacy Program Description
The curriculum includes such topics as parent-teacher conferences, parents’ and students’ rights in the school system, dealing with the cultural divide, and exploring ways to support children’s learning at home. Teachers are encouraged to plan some activities that involve students’ children. Language learning is integrated into every aspect of the course.

Civics Program
Students in the English and Civics Program learn about New York City resources, U.S. history and government, computer skills, and basic English grammar and basic computer skills.

ESOL for Workers Program
The curriculum includes career exploration, creating a career plan, communication skills for the workplace, interviewing skills, basic English grammar, and basic computer skills.
