Position: Director/ELC Boston Location: Boston, MA Salary: Commensurate with experience Job Description: The Director is responsible for overseeing all aspects of school operations and sets the standard for enthusiasm and professionalism. S/he works continuously to reinforce the ELC standard of high-level service to agents, students and other staff. S/he reports to the Vice President of Administration and the President on a regular basis and supervises the Director of Courses (DOC), Foreign Student Advisor (FSA), Housing Coordinator, Student Services Coordinator (SSC), and Administrative Assistant ensuring that all areas work together to make a strong whole: academics, housing, activities, student advising, premises, etc. The duties of the Director include but are not limited to: Management of the administrative staff · Hire/train/orient new staff · Introduce and enforce Employee Handbook policies · Supervise staff with all questions/correspondence about bookings, students, agents, homestays, etc. · Manage the Adult Summer Campus Program at Wheelock College Oversee DOC's management of teaching staff · Sign off on teachers' rates of pay and teachers' performance reviews · Ensure that the DOC is enforcing the Employee Handbook Student issues · Meet with the FSA/SSC/DOC/Housing Coordinator regarding specific student problems · Meet with students when requested and be available to all students with grievances Miscellaneous · Coordinate with Vice President of Administration and President on projected enrollment, program offers and other issues · Affiliations and compliance Issues: manage and counsel on compliance issues; ensure adherence to and communicate on immigration and regulatory standards (e.g. ACCET and SEVIS) · Meet with visitors to ELC including agents, VIPs, inspectors and colleagues · Develop and maintain a network of local contacts for student recruitment · Travel abroad to meet with travel agents and attend trade fairs, as requested Qualifications: · Minimum 2 years managing an ESL or educational program with full supervisory responsibilities, including hiring and evaluating personnel · MA in TESOL/TESL/DELTA/CELTA, International Education or equivalent preferred · Demonstrated excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills · Organizational and planning skills with the ability to handle numerous details · Problem solving, decision-making, and creative thinking abilities · Proven customer service skills · Tact, patience, and diplomacy, particularly with non-native English speakers · High energy level and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment · Diligent work ethic · Prior experience with international students and ESL/ EFL field preferred · Experience living abroad preferred · One or more foreign language ability preferred · Must be authorized to work in the United States Interested candidates please submit a resume and a cover letter.
