in the EU. The Catch-22 is that you have to be employed in

one ever happened to mention is the age factor. I'm
continuously told that I don't look my age and I have my
photo on my cv (but not my birthdate.) I've had several
offers from schools around the world until they saw the date
on my passport, never to be heard from again. I'm only 47,
but you'd think I was 100. Whatever happened to wisdom that
comes with experience...

...I am a native English speaker from the UK and hold a
BSc
and MSc. I am currently undertaking an introductory TEFL
course and am very interested in exploring teaching posts

3. From the Field - Troublesome Phrasal Verbs?
===================================================
I've mentioned this probem on this forum once before but
since I got such little feedback on it, I thought I'd bring
it up for review once again.
Do your ESL students have a difficult time grasping the
concept of phrasal verbs? If so, here’s a great exercise
to
get them past that “mind block.” I have found
that my ESL
students hate the idea when I propose it, but are always
thankful afterwards because they finally "get it!"...

4. From the Field - Mixed Ability ESL Classes
===================================================
In the case of ESL classes with mixed levels of achievement,
we see the reality of what actually happens as opposed to
what ought to happen. We all know that it makes sense to
have groups of roughly similar level but in practical terms
this often doesn't happen. Well, it seems to me that rather
than train teachers to handle single-level groups, we should
be helping them understand how to deal with mixed ability
groups.
Clearly the teacher cannot treat the class as a single
group: sub-groups will be needed. Extra planning is required
as the sub-groups will need different exercises. To help
reduce the planning load, the teacher can select a single
topic and then devise exercises of varying difficulty around
it.
