dont need a degree, yet they want teaching experience!? I
don't understand this, since you need experience to teach
yet you need to teach to get experience. And i was thinking
since China seems to have the loosest policies for teachers
in the world, it would be a good place to GET experience

...I had a Contract with a Stamp in Chinese and I could

read the stamp. So, I needed to know if the
stamp was an Official Stamp from the College where I am to
be teaching. So, I took the contract to my local Chinese
Restaurant for verification of the stamp. It was confirmed
that the Stamp was indeed a stamp from the College where
I
will be teaching. I know that there was one Forum Reader
who read my original entry and commented quite harshly on
my
technique. First: I have been going to this Chinese
Restaurant for years. Second: Many times when I am in
Melbourne Australia I see people from other countries trying
to read a map and I can tell that they are lost, so I help
them to find their way. So, I have helped many people from
other countries and gone to this Chinese Restaurant for
dinner many times, so what is wrong with asking for help?...

salary that an ESL school is offering, and then promise
yourself that next year, you'll ask for a raise, or look
for
a position that pays better. But did you know that most ESL
salaries are negotiable? That's right, those ESL teachers
who routinely ask for more are generally the ones making
the
higher salaries.

5. From the Field - What Influences ESL Students in...
===================================================
A British Council survey recently showed that family,
governments and employers all contributed to course funding.
This means that the decision about where to study could be
heavily influenced by people other than the students
themselves. The implications of this are that your
promotional material needs to be aimed at a wider audience
than the students themselves.
Another point to bear in mind is how the decision about
which school to choose is made. Again research shows that
word of mouth is the biggest influence. Hence satisfied past
students are probably your most effective marketing tool.
This would suggest that you need to keep in touch with past
students and use them as a means of identifying new
recruits.
