2. From the Field - Do You Love What You Do?
===================================================

I guess I’ve never really thought about whether I love
teaching ESL or just simply do it, because I’ve been working
in this profession for so long. But this week, I finally
came to realize that I truly do enjoy my job. (Why else
would I work for so little pay, right?)

But then I started to wonder just how much that would change
if I didn’t get to experience the many things that I do
because I live in another country.

3. From the Field - Dangerous liaisons
===================================================

We've all met them. They're young, handsome, newly qualified
and out to see the world. John is just one more young man
using his English teaching certificate to help him travel
before he settles down. He's done a stint in Mexico, in
China and now he's in Eastern Europe. Of course all his
female students adore him. But John is too professional to
become entangled with a student. But he's just discovered
that situations can get very nasty despite his good
intentions.

In his new class, one student, let's call her Olga, quickly
fell under his spell. She was always waiting after class to
ask him to explain something. John's only human and he was
flattered by her attention so when she asked him to join her
and her friends at a restaurant one evening, he didn't see
any harm in it. Only there were no other friends and Olga
made it clear that it wasn't just food on the menu. John
dealt with her firmly but politely saying that teachers were
not allowed to have relationships with students. He left the
restaurant.

Your colleagues are looking for guidance and help from
fellow professionals. Take a minute and help them out!

--> andrew writes...POLAND PLS ANSWER...

Do you require a degree from a university to work in Poland.
I have been told both yes and no. I do not have uni degree
but have a cert in literacy and numeracy, a diploma in
community services welfare, youth work experience, summer
camp experience and I have taught people individually to
read and write. I am also learning the Polish language. Can
someone please answer me asap.

http://www.esl-jobs-forum.com/viewtopic.php?t=249

--> roseagra writes...Volunteering in Ecuador - Advice
please!

well I'm off to Bahia de Caraquez in two months to teach for
three months at a local project and looking forward to it,
but I've never been to south america before, and the most
rugged terrain I have hit has been here in Ireland, Scotland
or maybe New York.

So all bits of advice, tips, good places to visit, good
things to bring, what to watch out for, good food, bad
manner that I might offend with, or be offended by.

--> william writes...Finding a job in Rio de Janeiro in
September!! Help me out!!

Going to Brazil would be completely cold, as in no set job,
no mates or contacts and not knowing much about the scene.
Please somebody tell me what the story is. Is September a
good time to go? Will I be able to find a job relatively
easy?
