1. From the Field - Better Late then Never
===================================================
There
have been many questions asked on my blog about
teaching ESL at an older age, and I’d like to take this
opportunity to address them. Many came from experienced
teachers looking for an experience teaching outside of the
U.S, while others came from non-experienced "seniors"
who
were looking for a second career.
While
I couldn’t find any concrete statistics on the number
of older people teaching ESL, I can tell you from my
experience that they are around. I can also tell you that
it
might be more difficult to get a good job - but definitely
not impossible.

2. From the Field - Brain Gym
===================================================
I've always
felt that English language teaching is in the
vanguard of innovative ideas for keeping the classroom
lively. Lots of activities involve students mixing and
mingling, working in pairs and groups and being active
rather than passive learners. But to the best of my
knowledge these traditional classroom actvities, with the
exception of some that are music-related, are not designed
to stimulate the brain to learn more efficiently.
I'd be
interested to know, therefore, whether anybody is
routinely using Brain Gym exercises in the English language
classroom...
