Certifications?

Are you
thinking about becoming certified? (Smart move!) If
so, you may be confused by all the acronyms out there!
Here’s a list that will help you with your certification
plans.
TEFL (Teaching
English as a Foreign Language) This in a non-
standardized course, which means that if you are considering
it, you will have to pay a lot of attention to the school
offering it. Depending on the provider, it can be a great
course that will thoroughly prepare you for the teaching
world, or a big waste of money! Check out the school
carefully and ask a lot of questions about real teaching
practice and how many hours of study are offered.

4. From the Field - Materials on a Limited Budget

Recently
I discussed this problem with a school drector:
My school is quite small and we have to keep our student
fees low because people do not have a lot of disposable
income in our country. Students usually can’t afford
to buy
their own books. However, our budget for books and materials
is modest and we can’t buy all the latest offerings
from the
publishers. The teachers complain that the books are out of
date but the students don’t seem too bothered by this.

advice can you give?
