1. Are you a SERIOUS Websurfer?
===================================================

I have a great tool any serious websurfer needs to use if
they want to get the most out of what the net has to offer.
It's the Alexa toolbar and we use it here at the
ESLemployment offices everyday to assist in digging out the
best sites and resources, quickly and easily.

Now before you say "Great, another toolbar to add to my
collection..." this one really is different. As you navigate
your favorite sites Alexa will automatically tell you about
other sites of similar interest...essentially doing your
work for you.

It also serves up cool information like how popular a site
is, how many other sites link to that site, and the list
goes on.

You can download the toolbar here:

http://download.alexa.com/index.cgi?amzn_id=esltextsbooks

Give it a try and don't blame me if you get addicted to it.

Until next week.

Jake

------>> STOP! THESE TEACHERS NEED YOUR HELP! <<------
------------------------------------------------------

http://www.esl-jobs-forum.com

Your colleagues are looking for guidance and help from
fellow professionals. Take a minute and help them out!

--> bjwellgo writes...An expat in China's downtime

...speedy, no one wants to go to another country and sit
there watching stolen dvds alone. relax. that's not what i
meant. you can have more fun hanging out with locals if you
can' t find other expats...

http://www.esl-jobs-forum.com/viewtopic.php?p=895#895

--> AsianBizGuru writes...Just starting to explore, have
many questions!

...I would have to say I disagree with some comments here
about certs needed. If you have a good background and
education, no need for ANY Teaching Certificates...

--> tforinton writes...Bulgaria/Eastern Europe.

...My contract for teaching in China is up in January and I
quite fancy going over to Bulgaria. Failing that, Eastern
Europe. Just wondering if anyone has been and can give me
some recomendations on where to go. Also, any advice on
which countries I should avoid for safety reasons, and where
it is easiest to get a job. I am a fully certified teacher
native speaker from UK...

3. From the Field - In Debt? Snowball It!
===================================================

It’s not too difficult to rack up huge credit card bills on
a teacher’s salary, and if you’re in this position, you are
likely desperate to get them all paid off! Consumer spending
is way up, and teachers are no exception. But if you’d like
to stop paying all of your salary to your credit card
issuers, it is possible to take control of that debt now and
start living a simpler life. How? By snow balling your debt.

===================================================
4. From the Field - Using newsletters to attract students
===================================================

The Internet creates all sorts of opportunities for doing
this. First create a website for your school if you haven't
already done so. You will also need to make somebody
responsible for maintaining it. Then create some pages that
offer prospective students something useful. You can have
exercises, links, even a forum for exchange of ideas. But
make your main tool a subscriber newsletter. By offering a
regular newsletter with really useful material for students
you can start to reach potential clients and build a
relationship with them.
